The Anatomy of a Live Attack

A single packet, followed step by step, from the open internet to a locked-down honeypot port. Scroll slowly to follow it.

Skip the journey ↓
01 — The Open Internet

Somewhere out there, a packet begins to move.

02 — Closing In

It finds an address, and drops toward it.

203.0.113.77
03 — Ten Thousand Doors

It knocks, port by port, until one answers.

OPEN
04 — One Door Answers

One door stands open — quiet, and a little too inviting.

05 — Knock, Knock

It starts guessing at the lock.

06 — Caught in the Dark

But GhostNet was already listening.

07 — Every Second, Something Like This

This is what happens before a human ever has to react.

Every one of these steps is captured, classified by AI, and answered in milliseconds — for real, right now, on this system.

Without GhostNet

  • Scans and brute-force land directly on production.
  • Logs pile up faster than anyone can read them.
  • Blocking one address does nothing — the tool just rotates.
  • You learn about the breach afterwards.

With GhostNet

  • Attacks land on decoy services first, never on you.
  • Every payload is classified automatically, by severity.
  • Clients are fingerprinted below TLS, so rotation stops working.
  • Confirmed sources are firewalled in milliseconds.

How it works

01

Capture

Eleven decoy services listen across the box. Every knock is recorded with its payload and client fingerprint.

02

Classify

Each capture is enriched and graded — recon, brute-force, active exploitation — without a human reading a log.

03

Cut off

Confirmed high-severity sources are pushed into the firewall, and the signature is blacklisted so rotation fails.

Who it is for

Operators

Run it in front of your own stack

The decoys absorb the noise so your real services only ever see traffic worth answering.

Daily Digest
2026-10-15
SUMMARY The day was dominated by background scanning and credential‑harvesting probes, with a modest number of higher‑severity events. Only a handful of critical exploit attempts were observed, and they originated from a single source; no widespread campaign is evident. NOTABLE - 88.210.63.32 (Germany) triggered two Critical‑severity Exploit Attempt events on redirect:80, payloads attempting directory traversal to execute /bin/sh via a CGI‑bin path (plain and URL‑encoded repeats). This source warrants immediate blocking or at least heightened monitoring due to the clear exploit intent. - 217.60.97.85 (United States) generated a rapid series of High‑severity Credential Harvesting events on redirect:8080, repeatedly requesting various .env files (.env, .env.local, .env.production, etc.). While typical of automated scanners looking for exposed configuration, the volume and focus merit a watch‑list entry; consider a temporary ban if the activity persists beyond today. - 78.153.140.40 (United Kingdom) performed a High‑severity Credential Harvesting probe on redirect:80 with a single GET /.env request repeated 14 times. This is low‑impact background noise; no action needed beyond normal filtering. All other notable events are low‑volume probes or scanner activity that do not rise to the level of immediate concern. PATTERNS Traffic shows the usual mix: the Netherlands, United

Everything above just happened for real.

GhostNet runs this exact pipeline around the clock, on real attack traffic.

Live Honeypot Network
Fingerprints every client at the TLS layer, so malicious tooling is recognized even as it rotates across IP addresses.
AI Classification
Every capture is enriched and classified automatically — recon, brute-force, active exploitation. No human sifts through noise.
Autonomous Defense
Confirmed high-severity threats are cut off at the network level the moment they’re confirmed.
24/7 Monitoring
A continuous oversight layer watches around the clock and escalates only genuine anomalies straight to a human.
Threat Intel API
Pull a continuously updated feed of confirmed malicious IPs and client fingerprints to protect your own stack.
Live Dashboard
Real-time visibility into captured attacks, active bans, and threat classifications, all in one place.

Defense that can prove itself.

Every classification and every ban is written into a cryptographically hash-chained ledger — each entry bound to the one before it. Tamper with any record and the break is immediately visible on the live integrity check. It’s not just a log file someone could quietly edit after the fact.
